1/ HISTORY

The squadron was created, on September 9th 1974 at NAS Fréjus Saint-Raphaël in order to test new weapon systems (Alouette III and MAD/ Magnetic Anomally Detector). On January 14th 1975, it moved to Lanvéoc-Poulmic. The first WG-13 Lynx Mk 2s came within the squadron on October 3rd 1979. Those "birds" should be replaced around 2005-2010 by the new ASW helicopter, the NH-90 NFH.

2/ MISSIONS

Its initial mission was testing new ASW weapons. At present, it provides ASW missions from various ships (one or two per ship) which belong to the G.A.S.M. (Groupe d'Action Sous-Marine/ Anti-Submarine Action Group) based at NS Brest :
