The construction of the ship began on November 26th 1938 at Saint-Nazaire shipbuilding ; but the construction was stopped because of the World War II and France had to achieve the construction of her "own Bismark" : the battle cruisers Richelieu and Jean Bart. The ship was unachieved and destroyed when the Germans won the war in June 1940.
The construction of the carrier never began and the project was given up in 1940.
1/ Aeronautical installations and carrier air wing
The carriers could accommodate fifteen fighters and twenty-five bombers. They were equipped with a reinforced flight deck (200 m x 28 m), two hangars (195 m x 20. 80 m and 79 m x 15. 60 m), and two lifts.
2/ Weapons
The ships had eight 130 mm anti-aircraft guns, eight 37 mm anti-aircraft guns, twenty-eight 13 mm guns.
